Coincidence or Fate?
The air around the castle was dead for a winter evening in January. Sabrina's footprints made their way from the castle steps to the lake. She kept a good pace away, but yet couldn't help be drawn to it now. It had almost taken her life. Noreen had warned her too. Was is coincidence that Remus happened to be the one to rescue her? Or was it fate that she even fell through.

A light breeze picked up, tossing back her ebony locks and she looked up to the sky. Twilight. The best time of day, just late enough for the stars to be out, and just early enough for a faint hue to cover the white grounds. It was a gorgeous and almost dream like state.

Remus saw a figure walking towards the lake from the window in the empty classroom in which he'd been practicing his summoning charms. He watched the small shadow's progressed for a moment, thinking idly that it looked familiar.

...A moment later, Remus was sprinting for the grounds. He reached the doors, and slowed to a walk as he made his way out over the grounds. He was striding briskly, not sure why he was in a hurry.

When he reached the lake, Remus paused, and watched Sabrina watching the lake for a long moment.

Sabrina stood, staring out past the waters. A chill crawled down her, as she grasped her arms together across her chest, in an effort to conserve warmth. Completely oblivious the girl couldn't help but let her thoughts wander. The setting was so serene, and the light wind made her feel, beautiful. It was odd, as if she was one of those muggle movie stars and their hair was blowing back in just the right way.

Maybe it was the fact that everything in her life was going well. Or maybe it was the fact that she had a new found respect for life, whatever it was it had her deep in thought.

Remus walked silently up behind Sabrina, and slipped off his outer robe, then swung it around her shoulders.

He spoke quietly, looking out over the still lake. "Cold out here."

Feeling the robe over her shoulders, she smiled and could only assume it was one person. She reached one hand up to place it over top of his which was still over her shoulder.

"Aye, but now I have you." she said, leaning in brushing her lips softly against his. Insecurities and questions vanished from thought, for the moment where she could be alone in peace with Remus. "What prompted you to come out here?" she asked him delicately, still holding his hand.

"Saw you out the window," mumbled Remus. "Thought you might want some company."

Her hand over his was warm, dry, and soft. He liked it there.

Smiling warmly she looked to Remus, her free hand making its way to his cheek turning his head so she could look in his eyes.

"I always enjoy your company Remus. You should know that." she said quietly, it seemed appropriate to speak in low voices.

Remus returned her smile with a small, shy one of his own. This was distinctly different from snogging Sabrina, and much more intimate... He felt very exposed, just then, and it made him slightly edgey.

Ignoring the odd feeling, he spoke softly, wondering why neither could seem to raise their voice. "And I yours. Hence, I'm here."

"I gathered," she said eyebrow raised, the playful tone returning to her voice. So was this what couples did? Besides the whole holding hands thing?

"I still can't believe I didn't land that trick," she said with a mock laughter. Her eyes scanned the ice, lying on the hole that still had yet to be frozen over. She never had quite known what Remus was doing outside at the time, and in fact ahdn't bothered to ask before. Rather, she was thankful he was.
